Good Care Guide for Christmas Trees

Needle Rating & Tree Suitability

A Guide to help prevent needle drop:

  • Buy one of the varieties known for good needle retention if you are going to take the tree inside.

  • When you get home cut about 1” off the base of the tree (this allows water to flow up the tree)

  • Store in an unheated area and in a bucket of water for as long as possible.

  • And when you bring it inside – keep watering it !

Large Christmas Trees are also available:

Norway Spruce, Douglas Fir and Corsican Pine species are available in larger sizes

Large Christmas trees can be delivered in the Retford and Bawtry area and collected after Twelfth Night - for a small fee. (When the Christmas trees are collected we take them on to chipping and recycling as garden mulch, or possibly as a boiler fuel – all very green!)

Lodgepole Pine :

(In latin ‘pinus contorta’)

Long needles, open foliage which shows off decorations to a good advantage and holds needles well.
